Station to seek permission on 18th December

Early notice has just been received that the new rail station, part of which is in East Chesterton, will seek planning permission to go ahead, at a committee meeting on the 18th December.

This is the permission for the project to go ahead in a legal sense, and is a momentous point for East Chesterton and Cambridge.

Cllr Ian Manning said: “I’ve worked hard, and cross party, with the project team to seek to both get the best from the station project, and mitigate against knock on effects – from getting a guarantee of ~£30,000 to combat parking issues, to making sure the Bramblefields entrance proposal is balanced and will be decided upon by local residents.”

The Science Park Station is a great opportunity for East Chesterton. Old Chesterton Residents’ Association, the Fen Estate and Nuffield Road Residents’ Association, the VIE Residents’ Association and Cambridge Cycling Campaign petition the County Council to give Nuffield Road trading estate a more direct access to Milton Road (avoiding Green End Road).
